    Lecture on Traditional Chinese Culture of Painting and Calligraphy Was Held in Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics

    Recently, Chong Kwan Wai, the executive advisor & chief representative of Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), Carol Pillai, the senior manager of hospitality management department of MDIS, Dr. Katie Avery, the director of overseas curriculum development department of MDIS, and other two teachers together with four students of MDIS visited Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics (ZJTIE). In order to carry forward the traditional Chinese culture and promote the construction of international college, Professor Zhu Hongliang, deputy dean of culture and art department of ZJTIE conducted a lecture on traditional Chinese culture of painting and calligraphy. Mr. Chong Kwan Wai, Ms. Carol, and other guests from MDIS listened to the lecture and visited the painting and calligraphy's training room of culture and art department of ZJTIE. After the lecture, the guests from MDIS and Professor Zhu conducted a cultural exchange and interaction.

    Professor Zhu introduced the history and essence of Chinese painting and calligraphy to the guests from MDIS, which showed the charm of traditional Chinese culture. During the lecture, Professor Zhu talked about his years of experience in Chinese painting and calligraphy, and he also said that learning Chinese painting must firstly grasp basic skills in order to lay a good foundation and secondly analyze and learn from famous masterpieces. Professor Zhu also appreciated several famous masterpieces with guests from MDIS and he described the creative experience of the authors. The guests from MDIS showed strong interest in Chinese painting and calligraphy. Mr. Chong Kwan Wai said that he was impressed by the profoundness of Chinese calligraphy and painting and he said that traditional Chinese culture was rich, profound, and extensive.

    Finally, Professor Zhu demonstrated the painting of "bamboo" and he completed two paintings which stamped his seal and presented them to the guests from MDIS. Students from MDIS said that the lecture on traditional Chinese culture was very interesting, and from the lecture they learned the history of Chinese painting and calligraphy and improved the understanding of traditional Chinese culture, besides, they also grasped some painting techniques through the lecture.
