    ZJTIE Student Won First Prize in 2014 National Tour Guide Contest

    2014 Tour Guide Contest among higher vocational schools group, a session of National Skill Competition of Vocational Schools sponsored by Ministry of Education, National Tourism Administration, etc. was held on June 17th -19th in Hangzhou. Fang Dan from applied English major of culture and arts department, out of 143 contestants from 30 provinces and cities won first prize in English group. Her Instructor Yang Yin won the Excellent Instructor Award.

    The contest was divided into Chinese and English groups. 5 parts including knowledge test, tour guide explanation, question and answers, impromptu speech and talent show were tested in the contest. Fang Dan fully showed the well-developed professional skill and good professional quality and received high evaluation from the judgers through theme design with rich connotation, excellent professional knowledge, fluent English expression, elegant etiquette and stable exertion.  

    One minute on the stage requires ten years of hardworking practice. The constructor and the contestant almost gave up all the rest time. They spent all day in the classroom, library, training room preparing every details such as writing tour guide speech, simulating scenic spot explanation, designing actions and gestures, testing theoretical knowledge, improving pronunciation and intonation, arranging talent show programs in those two month before the contest begins. In Fang Dan’s memory, she recalls happiness more than hard work.
